Ruby J. Romine, 74, of Slater, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital from injures sustained in an automobile accident in Marshall earlier that day.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Slater with Rev. Chris Weber officiating. Bethany Weiker, organist, will play "Amazing Grace" and "Go Rest High On that Mountain". Burial will be in the Rehoboth cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Morton, Ricky Taylor, Jesse Taylor, Anthony Taylor, Joey Sapone and Byron Tyler. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Slater Medical Clinic Building Fund or Slater Veterans Memorial Park in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Sept. 1, 1936, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Albert Durham and Alice Vernold Durham McDowell. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Slater. She was currently serving on the City of Slater council as a second ward councilwoman. She retired from ConAgra Foods in Marshall after nearly 30 years of service.
She is survived by a son, Steven Romine of rural Gilliam; three daughters, Penny Newsome of Marshall, Rhonda Romine of Lake Ozark and Kim Sapone of Slater; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Alfred Eugene Durham of the state of Montana and one sister, Peggy Morton of Slater.
