James Leon Tyler Sr., 66, of Marshall, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Memorials are suggested to family choice in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home. An online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com.
Born June 1, 1944, in Jonesboro, Ark., he was the son of the late James Leslie Tyler and Genevieve Morrow Tyler Brooks. He lived in Marshall most of his life where he was a graduate of Marshall High School. He was last employed with Missouri Valley College where he worked in maintenance. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his brother, Gerald W. (Toby) Tyler and his wife, Katie, of rural Marshall; one niece, Leslie Anne Tyler of Golden Valley, Ariz.; one nephew, Kelly Wayne Tyler of Marshall; two step-children, Christa Vansteenburgh-Sheffer and Jennifer Maxon, both of Marshall; and his late sons half brother, Philip Hontz, who was like a son, of Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, James Leon (Buddy) Tyler, Jr.
