Mary E. Lynn, 87, of Lenexa, Kan., formerly of Saline County, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater, with Rev. David L. Duncan officiating. Bethany Weiker, organist, will play "How Great Thur Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keith Warner, Bobby Cobb, Alvin Williams and Cody Williams. Visitation will from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association.
Born Dec. 29, 1923, in New Frankfort, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Gertrude Sleyster Miles. On March 1, 1948, in Slater, she married Ruben Lynn who preceded her in death on July 7, 2003. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Slater. She lived in Kansas City for many years before returning to Saline County. She moved to Lenexa in 2003.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Chandler of Overland Park, Kan., and Betty Johnson of Milwaukee, Wis.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rosie Williams of rural Slater.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary May; one brother, Emory Miles; and two sisters, Joyce Tennill and Nellie Cobb.
