James Ernest Ray, 67, of Blackwater, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Davis Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Jones officiating. Burial will be in Old Lamine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Davis Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the Old Larmine Church of Christ or to the family. Born Sept. 3, 1943, in Boonville, he was the son of the late Ernest Woodrow Ray and Doris Venetta Poindexter Ray. On June 22, 1963, in Pilot Grove, he married Yvonne (Bonnie) Bean, who survives of the home. He worked for Consolidated Freightways Trucking Co. for seventeen years. He then took up trucking himself, mostly in the live stock business, working with local livestock sales barns, as well as farming his land near Blackwater. He was on the Old Lamine Cemetery Board.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Ronald Ray and his wife, Tina, Randal and his wife, Dana, both of Boonville, and Danial Ray and his wife, Wendy, of Odessa; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Earl Wayne Ray and his wife, Margie, of Columbia; and one niece and one nephew.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Zachary John Ray.
