Commodity loans

If you are planning to request a commodity loan before the end of the year, don't wait until the last minute.

It can take a few days to process a loan request, particularly if you would like a measurement service done.

We now have less than two weeks before 2011.

Make certain you allow ample time if you plan to obtain a loan to be disbursed in 2010.

The interest rate for loans approved in December is 1.250%. The rate will change once in January.

The deadline to obtain a commodity loan on 2010 crop for small grains is March 31, 2011 -- All other May 31, 2011.

A summary of payments received from FSA will be mailed to producers after the first of the year, usually in late January or early February.

Participants should keep in mind that refunds will not show up on the 1099G.

If participants have questions about their payments or refunds, they should contact their local FSA office.

FSA strives to serve all farmers and ranchers fairly and equitably.

This includes serving those who may experience difficulties working with our office due to an impairment.

Special accommodations will be made upon request for individuals with disabities, vision impairment, or hearing impairment.

If accommodations are required, individuals should contact their FSA office.

Women in Ag Conference website

The Women in Ag Conference will be here before we know it.

The 2011 conference will be held on Friday March 11 at the Martin Community Center in Marshall.

The planning committee is excited this year to have launched a website for the conference.

The site contains information about the upcoming conference, as well as photos and other information from past events.

Details are nearly finalized for the 2011 conference, and will continue to be posted to the site as they become available.

There is already information about this year's keynote speaker, breakout session, and how to register.
