Margaretta S. (Greta) Gerhard, 88, of Frankfort, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Big Bend Retreat Nursing Home in Slater.
Memorial graveside services with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at new Frankfort Cemetery north of Gilliam with Rev. Terry Sandwith officiating. Memorials are suggested to the cemetery in care of Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.
Born Aug. 22, 1922, in Marienville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Miller and Rose Alexander Keeley. On Oct. 13, 1945, in Yowson, Md., she married Charles F. (Frank) Gerhard, who preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 2002. She was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post #78 in Slater. She was a graduate of Brown School of Practical Nursing. She worked at Shriners Hospital in St. Louis, the Electronics School at Hughes Aircraft in Culver City, Calif., and in research and development with Hughes Aircraft and the NASA program. She retired from quality control at Banquet Foods in Marshall.
She is survived by one son, Charles (Chris) Gerhard of Simi Valley, Calif.; four grandaughters; a great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and a granddaughter.
