"They've really stepped up," said Jeff Stubblefield, Director of Parks and Recreation.
Though work still continues on the pads, the course is functioning and ready for use.
With December comes a quiet park; however, during the Park Board meeting held Wednesday, Dec. 1, a few projects were discussed.
Some individuals and service clubs have expressed interest regarding the restoration of the Sister of Liberty Statue, Stubblefield said, but no new information is available.
In terms of the park's budget, Stubblefield said they're on track. The greenhouse has been constructed and operating and three buildings received a roof coating. These projects were all accounted for in the budget and the park is currently waiting on tax revenue reports.
Marshall Street Department is also moving in equipment to work on erosion problems in a couple of areas, and work should be completed by winter's end.
Missouri Valley College has finished laying sod on Osage Field. The baseball diamond is now just waiting for a new fence; crews will soon be painting the foul pole and aiming field lights.
Lori Godsey, recreation supervisor, said the 2011 activities calendar should be available the beginning of February.
Park Board President Mike Lamberson, Vice President Wayne Crawford, and Board Members John Angelhow, Sam Untiedt, Harry Ming, Olive Malter, and Nancy Kleinschmidt were present.
The next regular meeting is scheduled at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5.

I think it would be nice if the park would invest into the ball fields that the kids use!
Where are the plans for the walking trail? When will it be started?
