Dean Austin Borchers, 68, of Blackburn, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Masonic services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with visitation following from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date in Blackburn Cemetery. Born Jan. 19, 1942, in Marshall, he was the son of the late George William Borchers and Janie Tice Borchers. He was a 1959 graduate of Blackburn High School. Following graduation he worked for Hallmark Cards and then spent most of his life as a truck driver. On January 27, 1962, he married Mary S. Chipley who survives of the home. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where he had served on the church council. He was also a member of Waverly Masonic Lodge No. 61 A.F. & A.M. and was a Shriner. He was a very active member of the Blackburn community and was a proud member of the Republican Party as well as numerous organizations.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Deana Aversman and her husband, Dale, of Corder, Teresa Schmidt and her husband, Kenny, of Alma, and Melodie Dameron and her husband, Kevin, of Sweet Springs; one son, Keill Borchers and his wife, Keri, of Higginsville; six grandchildren, Michelle and Lauren Aversman, Holly and Cody Schmidt, Patrick Dameron and Lane Borchers; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Janie Sassmann and Catherine Steffens, and two brothers, H.T. (Buddy) Borchers and Don Borchers.
