Boonville- Farmers Livestock Auction: Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 11/23/2010

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

Receipts: 1172 Last Week: 1364 Year Ago: 1858

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers traded steady with some
weakness detected in 500-600 lb heifers after last week’s sharp upturn.
Slaughter cows steady. Quality was less attractive this week and the couple
extra volume buyers who have been present the past couple sales were absent.
However, with several auction barns closed due to the upcoming holiday, buyers
are aware that the opportunity to gather any cattle this week is coming to a
close and as a result most weights and classes of feeders held their own pretty
easily. Happy Thanksgiving from the MDA/USDA Market News Staff. Supply and
demand moderate. Cows and bulls accounted for 15 percent of the total offering.
The feeder supply consisted of 44 percent steers and bulls and 56 percent
heifers; 29 percent of all the feeder cattle weighed over 600 lbs.

***Cattlemen’s Note: Farmers Livestock will hold a Special Stock Cow Sale on
Saturday, November 27th, expecting 600-700 head of bred cows, heifers and
breeding bulls. Weigh cows sell at 4:30 p.m. followed by the breeding stock at
6:00 p.m.***
