Boonville-Farmers Livestock Auction: Cattle Auction Report for 11/16/2010

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Receipts: 1364 Week Ago: 1360 Year Ago: 313

Compared to last week, feeder steers sold firm to 3.00 higher with most of
the advance on steers over 550 lbs. Feeder heifers traded 2.00 to 4.00 higher
with instances up to 10.00 higher on 500-600 lb heifers after a couple buyers
came to town looking to own the same type and kind. Slaughter cows steady. All
the regulars plus a couple extra volume buyers were in the seats, with some of
the visitors making a sure impact and others mostly spectating, picking up a few
head here and there. Lots of good quality cattle available this week with
several more small strings of yearlings on hand. Calves were a mixed bag of
those worked/weaned and those left nature made, and discounts were more evident
on the extreme cases. Supply moderate to heavy and demand moderate to good. Cows
and bulls accounted for 13 percent of the total offering. The feeder supply
consisted of 50 percent steers and bulls and 50 percent heifers; 43 percent of
all the feeder cattle weighed over 600 lbs.
