Lady Vikings rally to beat No. 25 McKendree
For the second game in a row, the inside-outside combination of senior Sha'Teah West and sophomore Cassondra Copeland led the Missouri Valley College women's basketball team.
This time it produced a win for the Lady Vikings, which upset No. 25 McKendree (Ill.) with a 67-65 non-conference home decision Friday. Valley trailed by as many as eight points during the second half before making a run down the stretch.
Copeland scored 18 points, making five three-point shots -- a big boost for a Valley club which made only six of 35 attempts from beyond the arc during the season's first three games. West also tallied 18 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
The Lady Bearcats (1-4) had four players in double figures and led by senior Katie Fullerton's 18 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Sophomore Sami Jackson dished out eight assists and senior Jonica Booth had four assists and four steals for the Lady Vikings (1-3).
Valley will be at home Tuesday for a non-conference tilt with Stephens.
