Polly Elsea, 93, of Sweet Springs, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at Sweet Springs Villa in Sweet Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at First Christian Church in Sweet Springs, with Rev. Zach Diehl and Rev. James West officiating. Visitation was held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Sweet Springs. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church. Born Sept. 21, 1917, in Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late George Lemmons and Grace LaRue Lemmons. On Oct. 16, 1937, she married Marvin F. (Short) Elsea who preceded her in death on March 20, 2003. She had lived in the Sweet Springs area most of her life and was a member of the First Christian Church, its Christian Women's Fellowship, Sewing and Thimble Club and was a 4-H leader.
Survivors include four daughters, Donna McCaslin of Phillipsburg, Elnora Crider of Sweet Springs, Ruby Zimmerschied of Blackburn and Jolene Studer of Waterville, Minn.; two sons, Marty Elsea and Van Elsea of Sweet Springs; 13 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Alma Lee Sevier of Houstonia; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one great-grandson.
