Ronald E. McKown, 74, of Independence, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to family choice. Born April 24, 1936, in Excelsior Springs, he was the son of the late Earl Thomas McKown and Olive Irene Wohlgemuth McKown. On June 5, 1954, he married Peggy Joan Newton who survives of the home. He had lived in Independence for many years and was an auto mechanic. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Independence. He loved to hunt and fish in his younger days.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Madonna McKown of Independence and Janice Fryar of Berryville, Ark; two grandsons, Tim Herron and Scott Herron; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Tommy McKown of Smithville, Gary McKown of Excelsior Springs, and Rick McKown of Kansas City; six sisters, Dixie Vanoster and Beverly Hutchings both of Orrick, Karen McKown of Excelsior Springs, Sandy Waters and Joyce Stockton both of Orrick and Sherry Lutjen of Lincoln; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Kenneth McKown, and two brothers, John and Danny McKown, and one brother and sister, both in infancy.
