  • I have a question for the school board. Custodians work various shifts. Some shifts are less desirous to some custodians for various reasons. Are the custodians given any preference, based on seniority or are the shifts just assigned by the supervisor? Would it be more fair to offer choices by seniority, or is there some good reason for not giving preference by seniority? If no one wanted a certain shift than the custodian with the lowest seniority would be assigned to that shift. When assignments are made arbitrarily, rather than some appropriate merit method, labor unions come to the workplace.
