Boonville-Farmers Livestock Auction: Cattle Auction Report for 10/12/2010

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Receipts: 409 Week Ago: 709 Year Ago: 447

Compared to last week, a very light supply of feeder steers and heifers
traded with a sharply lower undertone. Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 higher.
Lots of singles, odds and unweaned calves this week, as well as an unusually
high percentage of feeder bulls in the mix. Pretty quiet day at the local barn
with buyers not overly eager to own anything posing much risk in light of
seasonal health concerns and a soaring corn market. Supply and demand light.
Cows and bulls accounted for 18 percent of the total offering. The feeder supply
consisted of 46 percent steers and bulls and 54 percent heifers; 29 percent of
all the feeder cattle weighed over 600 lbs.
