James J. (Jim) Buie, 77, of rural Marshall, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Marshall Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marshall, with Rev. Randy Shannon officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial with military rites will be held in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born Aug. 21, 1933, in Marshall, he was the son of the late James Elgin Buie and Kathryn Bray Hogge Buie. On Nov. 7, 1959, he married Sara L. Vickrey who survives of Marshall. He was a 1951 graduate of Marshall High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the Panama Canal. He had lived in Saline County his entire life where he was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Marshall Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Malta Bend American Legion Post 558 and served as board president of the Public Water Supply District #1 for 25 years.
Additional survivors include one son, Dan Buie and his wife, Rebecca, of rural Marshall; three grandchildren, Vivian, Simeon and Lilian Buie; one sister, Kathryn Sue Castle of rural Marshall; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Alan Buie, and many friends.
