Raymond Richards, 56, of Carrollton, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at his home.
A celebration of life will be held from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at Bittiker Funeral Home. The family suggests contributions be made to Carrollton Band Boosters or to the Carrollton Booster Club. Born July 7, 1954, he was the son of Orval and Mary (Robertson) Richards of San Diego, Calif. He was a graduate of Norborne School. He worked at Banquet Foods, Higginsville rehabilitation Center and Tyson Foods as a smokehouse operator. At Banquet Foods, he held a union steward position as well as belonged to the Jaycees.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Richards, of the home; his father, Orval Richards, of Carrollton; three children, Josh Richards, of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, Martina Boatman, of Carrollton and Marty Boatman, of Carrollton; four sisters, Shelly Womack, of Carrollton, Becky Hensley, of Marshall, Katy Brockman, of Carrollton and Tammy Crawford, of Carrollton; six brothers, Bobby Richards, of Greenback, Tenn., Joe Richards, of Clinton, Tenn., Donny Richards, of Hale, Doug Richards, of Madisonville, Tenn., Billy Richards, of Maryville, Tenn. and Tommy Richards, of Kingwood, Texas; six grandchildren; a paternal grandmother, Mildred Richards, of St. Joseph; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nettie and Gurnie Robertson, his paternal grandfather, Orval Richards Sr., two uncles, one aunt and a nephew.
