Vesta Irene Williams, 82, of Mexico, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at Boon Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Assembly of God Church in Mexico with Rev. Everett Bradshaw and Rev. Wayne Long officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico. Memorials are suggested to First Assembly of God (Building Fund) in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Born Feb. 27, 1928, in Nelson, she was the daughter of Lafe Alonzo and Venedia Edna (Dial) Thomas. On March 10, 1946, she married William R. Williams, who preceded her in death on March 6, 1996. She had worked at Continental Bag and Mexico Public Schools. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Mexico. She volunteered at the Senior Nutrition Center and was an active member of Widowed Persons Service.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Long, of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Cathy Baker of Mexico; four grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Herman Thomas and one sister, Veta LaRose.
