During the Board of Education's meeting Wednesday, Sept. 8, Superintendent Melissa Vesser said the Board of Equalization first assessed the district at $9,855,183. A second valuation increased the number to $9,921,774.
The increase lowers the district's tax ceiling, bringing down the amount the district can charge from approximately 4.52 percent to 4.49 percent for the school year.
"Taxes didn't go up," Vesser said.
The total levy is $5 and 13.58 cents per $100 assessed valuation.
In other news, the board approved a Facility Program Evaluation, which included multiple safety issues such as the staff and students being trained in emergency situations, having clean, safe and orderly facilities, and determining that all emergency devices, such as smoke detectors, are installed and inspected.
Suggested changes to the facilities are upgrading lighting, updating the crisis plan and training and acquiring a new steam table for the kitchen.
