The Lady Chiefs got two kills and four digs each from senior Anna Sleeper -- who also assisted five of the team's 13 spikes -- and sophomore Callie Gieselman. Junior Lauren Zitelman and sophomore Jessica Catlett both came up with three saves.
Santa Fe (1-0) will play its first home match Thursday against Smithton.
Green Ridge 2, Sweet Springs 0
SWEET SPRINGS -- The Sweet Springs volleyball team was kept on its heels Tuesday during its home opener, a 25-12, 25-9 non-conference loss to Green Ridge.
The Lady Greyhounds were limited to four kills, two by senior Shelby Hayworth. Meanwhile, the Lady Tigers (1-0) stayed on the attack, forcing Sweet Springs to come up with 22 digs ¸-- nine by junior Chelsea Hollrah and seven pulled up by senior Haley Hunter.
Hayworth also had a pair of aces for the Lady 'Hounds (1-1), who will play Sept. 9 at Sacred Heart.
Softball
Slater 9, Glasgow 2
GLASGOW -- Junior Jacqueline Anderson and senior Ana Jackson each blasted two-run homers Tuesday during the Slater softball team's 9-2 non-conference win at Glasgow.
Jackson singled in a run, stole two bases and scored during the Lady Wildcats' three-run first inning. Junior Kaylee Holt had an RBI single in the second for a 4-0 lead.
The Lady Yellowjackets (2-3) tallied in the bottom of the second when freshman Nikki Fuemmeler doubled and came in on a single, but Anderson followed sophomore Betty Goodman's lead-off single in the fifth with a dinger.
Anderson tripled in Goodman in the sixth and was on base when Jackson went yard.
Freshman Mary Gonzalez allowed only three hits and one walk to pick up the win for Slater (2-1), which hosts Sturgeon on Thursday.
