Last call for CRP general sign-up
The last week of General sign-up for the Conservation Reserve Program is upon us. This Friday, August 27, 2010 is the last day to submit an offer.
General sign-up allows enrollment of entire fields into the CRP program.
If you're interested in signing up, you have hopefully already been working with FSA on your offer(s).
If you haven't been in the office yet, and want to submit an offer, contact the office immediately.
This last week of sign-up will be hectic, and the sign-up process does take some time, so please don't wait until the last minute.
Again, this General CRP sign-up ends Friday August, 27th.
Mistake in the
Participants in District 4 should have received their FSA newsletter the second or third week in August.
An article on page two of the newsletter discussed insurance requirements for FSA disaster programs and various deadlines to apply for 2011 coverage; both from your crop insurance agent and for FSA's Non-insured Assistance (NAP) program.
Unfortunately, a mistake was made regarding the deadline to purchase Pasture, Rangeland, & Forage Rainfall Index policies from you crop insurance agent.
The date listed in the newsletter, November 30, 2010, is incorrect.
The correct deadline is September 30, 2010.
Also, the article did not point out that Rainfall Index Policies are available for apiculture.
We regret the mistake and a postcard has been issued to all producers in District 4 to correct the errors.
Producers should keep in mind that eligibility for FSA disaster programs requires crop insurance or NAP coverage on all crops the producer has an interest in.
Some exceptions apply, but make sure you understand the coverage requirements to prevent jeopardizing a future disaster payment.
The 2008 farm bill provided disaster assistance programs to cover losses on mechanically harvested crops like corn and soybeans, livestock deaths from natural disasters, grazing losses, losses to honey and fish producers, and for losses to other commodities.
But these programs require insurance or NAP coverage to participate.
Again, the correct deadline to purchase a Rainfall Index policy for 2011 is September 30, 2010.
Contact your agent for questions about crop insurance policies, or your FSA office for questions about federal disaster program requirements, & the Non-insured Assistance Program (NAP).
Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) General Sign-up ends August 27, 2010.
2009 Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) participants must certify 2004-2009 production by September 1, 2010
Supplemental Revenue Assistance (SURE) applications for 2008 losses must be signed by September 30, 2010.
