Barbara J. Harper, 72, of Oak Grove, formerly of Slater, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater, with Rev. David L. Duncan officiating. Bethany Weiker, organist, will play "How Great Thou Art" and "Just a Closer Walk with Thee." Burial will be in Slater City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Markovich, Mike Rogers, Robert Dale Johnson and Jason Weiker. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation.

Born March 28, 1938, in Slater, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Mary Hallam Harvey. She was retired from the Internal Revenue Service, where she specialized in personal and small business tax returns. She had lived in the Kansas City area for several years, moving from Texas.

She is survived by two sons, William R. Harper and wife, Louise, of Vienna, Ohio, and Michael W. Harper of Glen Carbon, Ill.; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis Neitzert and husband, John, of Slater.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Faye Harper.
