John M. Norris, 79, of Marshall, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Born Oct. 26, 1930, in Salem, he was the son of the late Herman Norris and Martha Berger Norris. In 1950, he married Polly Bryson, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 22, 1976, he married Patricia K. Norris, who survives of the home. He lived in Marshall most of his life and was a Baptist. He had worked for more than 30 years for Marshall Municipal Utilities at the power plant, retiring in 1993, and was owner and operator of Norris Plumbing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Carol Hufford and husband, Nelson, of Marshall, Karen Meredith and husband, Kenny, of Slater, Connie Yates of Atlanta, Ga., Kathy Brumit and husband, Larry, of Slater, Doug Jacobs and wife, Wendy, of Marshall and Sandy Hackworth and husband, Rick, of Marshall; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four brothers, Kenny Norris and Carl Norris, both of Salem, Herman Norris Jr. of Wheatland and Troy Norris of Grain Valley; three sisters, Dorothy Hall of Licking and Betty Ramsey and Glenda Green, both of Bolivar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Norris, and one sister, Berniece Emory.
