Fall prep season approaches
The Marshall athletics program isn't waiting for the official Monday start of fall practices to get going.
A meeting for parents of all fall student-athletes and coaches is set for Sunday at 6 p.m. in the MHS cafeteria. New Athletic Director Kelly Spies will review the activity handbook and then the coaches will have sessions with parents for their specific sports.
All student-athletes need to bring completed physicals and proof of insurance.
The Owls will hold their first football practice on Monday, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. for the varsity -- with lunch provided midway through. Freshman practice will begin at 8 a.m.
The Marshall girls' tennis team will beet a 7:30 a.m. and run until 9:30 a.m., except when the ladder tournament begins shortly before the start of school. Players need to bring their rackets, water and towels.
Other sports also begin on Monday, but their practice schedules were not submitted. However, coaches emphasize that student-athletes cannot practice until physicals are turned in.
