Vernida Kaneer, 88, of Sweet Springs, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010, at Sweet Springs Villa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sweet Springs, with Rev. Dan Wing officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Sweet Springs. Pallbearers will be Rick Clemens, Chris Clemens, Carl Winston, Danny Weber, Joshua Weber, Zachary Weber, Tatyana Dalager and Aaron White. Born Oct. 26, 1921, in rural Sweet Springs, she was the daughter of the late Harry Eckhoff and Gertrude Bauer Eckhoff. On Nov. 8, 1957, she married Roy L. Kaneer Sr., who preceded her in death March 26, 2000. She had lived in Sweet Springs most of her life and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a school bus driver for 20 years and was a secretary for Kaneer & Son Plumbing and Heating Co.
Survivors include one son, Mike Clemens of Sweet Springs; one daughter, Debbie Reinitz of Sweet Springs; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
