Elizabeth F. "Libby" Rieves, 88, of Sedalia, died Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Chris Kellogg officiating. Pallbearers will be Daryn Hofstetter, Jim Young, Kevin Rieves, Clinton Davis, John Hockaday and Jimmy Steele. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel; a prayer service will follow at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to Our Savior Lutheran Church in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel. Born Aug. 15, 1921, in Morgan County, she was the daughter of Ruben Lowery and Stella Mae (Lewis) Young. On June 16, 1940, in Sedalia, she married John W.E. Rieves, who preceded her in death Dec. 3, 1989. She was a graduate of Smithton High School. She worked for many years at Bard Drug and later at Sedalia Drug. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
She is survived by one son, John Rieves of Marshall; two daughters, Sandy Cordes of Sedalia and Patty Hofstetter of Stover; one sister, Marian Schultz of Centerville, Ohio; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester Young, Victor Young, Orval Young and Ruben Young, and three sisters, Hilda Morris, Beryl Hockaday and Stella Jo Dawson.
