At the FFA District Fair: Jenkins takes top honors in Sheep Show

Marshall FFA member Jade Jenkins took many of the top honors at the Central District FFA Fair Sheep Show held on Monday, July 12, at the Saline County Fairground.

Jenkins showed the Grand Champion Market Lamb, Grand Champion Ewe and Grand Champion Buck at the show Monday afternoon. Sweet Springs FFA member Brent Boland had the Reserve Champion Market Lamb, while the Reserve Champion Ewe was shown by Lynn Murry Jr. of Odessa FFA. He also showed the Champion Tunis Ram.

The Champion Showmanship Award went to Kaitlin Mitchell of Appleton City FFA. The High Point Individual was won by Jesse Mackeprang of Appleton City and the Appleton City FFA chapter won the Chapter Sweepstakes Award.

Judging the show was James Thompson, the judging coach at Fort Scott Community College in Fort Scott, Kansas.

In other livestock shows held on Monday, July 12, the Grand Champion Market Goat was shown by Dylan Carver and the Reserve Champion Market Goat was shown by Karstan Luchini, both members of the Cole Camp FFA chapter.

The Champion Showmanship Award was presented to Mysti-Ane Pearce of Pleasant Hill FFA.

The show was judged by Jalane Alden of Hamilton, a senior at Iowa State University.

In the Horse Show, held in the lower arena of the fairgrounds, Kayla Anstine of Chilhowee FFA won the Champion Equine Award and won the Chapter Sweepstakes Award for her chapter.

Sofia Metcalf of Warrensburg won the Showmanship Award.
