Joyce Elaine McLain, 70, of Independence, died Sunday, July 4, 2010.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010, at St. Sabina's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by family visitation until 8 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Donations may be made to the Keith Worthington Chapter of the ALS Society. Born May 20, 1940, in Marshall, she was the daughter of William and Wilhemina (Terschluse) Schellenberg. She grew up in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School. She had worked at Perfume Pizzazz in Independence from the late 1990s until it closed. She was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Independence. She was married to Warren Lee McLain, who preceded her in death in 1994.
She is survived by two sons, Jason McLain of Belton and Steve Sloan of Clinton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Tommy Sloan in 2009 and Jimmy Sloan in 2000, and an infant sister.
