Mary Lillian Betz Callaghan, 87, Shawnee, Kan., passed away Monday, June 28, 2010, at The Sweet Life of Shawnee.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee; the rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Overland Park, Kan., with burial to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Shawnee. She was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Sunshine Club of Holy Cross. She was also a past member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, Kan., St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall, and the Daughters of Isabella of Marshall.

She is survived by four daughters, Mary Frances Martinez and husband, Ricardo, of North Kansas City, Linda Sue Augustine and husband, Kirk, of Springfield, Beverly Anne Schuepbach and husband, John, of Lenexa, Kan., and Karen Jean Swisher and husband, Stan, of Marshall; one son, John Charles Callaghan and wife, Mabelle, of Republic of the Philippines; 15 grandchildren, Tricia Northgrove and husband, Mark, Tracy Jefferson and husband, Cliff, Amanda Even and husband, Michael, Tony Bradbury and wife, Karen, Sean Bradbury, Jessica Augustine, Joshua Augustine, Kelli Schuepbach and fiancé, Brian Frerichs, Matthew Schuepbach and fiancée, Elisha Stegelman, Ryan Schuepbach, Eric Bradley and wife, Molly, Jacob Bradley, Nathan Swisher, Logan Callaghan and Shane Callaghan; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Callaghan Jr.; a daughter, Patricia Marie; two sisters, Ann Cook and Frances Housman; and two brothers, Walter Betz and Woodson Betz.
