Cory Robert Gilliland, 18, of Marshall, died Saturday, June 19, 2010, in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall, with Randall Huff officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to family choice. Born May 29, 1992, in Urbana, Ill., he was the son of Terry Lee Gilliland of Slater and Ella Slown Proctor of Marshall. He had lived in Marshall since 2005, was currently a student at Marshall High School and had attended Slater public schools. He was a member of the "Thumping" Club -- just to see who could get the loudest bump in their music.
Additional survivors include two brothers, Quentin O'Bryan of Blackwater and Lance Knight of Marshall; one step-brother, Lowell Proctor of Marshall; maternal grandparents, Nancee Slagley and husband, Charles, of Stover; paternal grandparents Brenda Schultz and husband, Phil, of Champaign, Ill.; stepgrandmother, Lola Proctor of Marshall; three nieces, Gracie Knight, Tracie Knight and Madison O'Bryan; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, John W. Proctor.
