Van Meter State Park will host a session from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 26, featuring American Indian folklore and stories, according to a news release from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Participants will have an opportunity to learn how to build a fire the way American Indians did and can make S'mores over an open campfire.

Families who camp that night will earn a free camping coupon for a basic site to be used for a future visit to one of Missouri's state parks.

Van Meter park is located 12 miles northwest of Marshall on state Highway 122.

The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call 660-886-7537.
