Felecia Annette Smith, 51, of Memphis, Tenn., died Wednesday, June 9, 2010, in Memphis.
Funeral services were held at 12 noon Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Boulevard Church of Christ in Memphis, with William Jones officiating. Pallbearers were Gerald Joyner, Micah Smith, Travis Joyner, Herbert Smith III and Paul Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Tim Mitchell, Lawrence Kinnard, Thalmus Kinnard III and J.B. Kinnard. Interment was in Easthaven Cemetery in Memphis.
Born Oct. 23, 1958, in Clarksdale, Miss., she was the daughter of Estella Joyner of Memphis, and Herbert E. Smith Sr. of Slater. In 1977, she graduated from Fairley High School in Memphis, where she was senior class president, a member of the marching band and a member of the Beta Club. She obtained a bachelor of science degree in microbiology with a minor in music from Memphis State University. She was employed as a manager at Burger King Corporation for many years and as a manager at Pepsico Corporation before becoming an insurance agent for Occidental Life Insurance Company in Memphis. She was active in two gospel groups, Voices of Praise and The Singing Echoes.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her stepfather, R.T. Joyner of Memphis; two brothers, Herbert Smith II and Kenneth T. Smith, both of Memphis; three stepbrothers, Travis Joyner, Gerald Joyner and Brian Joyner, all of Memphis; one stepsister, Toya Joyner, of Memphis; one half-sister, RoCheryl Joyner of Memphis; two uncles; three aunts; and several nieces and nephews.
