Berna Dean Owens, 74, of Marshall died Monday, June 14, 2010, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Community Cancer Center. Born Aug. 27, 1935, in Urbana, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Rucker and Golda Hanks Rucker. On June 8, 1957, she married Paul W. Owens, who survives of the home. She returned to Marshall in 1985, and was retired from Marshall Habilitation Center. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Marshall.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Sue Rolf and husband, Dennis, of Alma and Dianna Kay Fitzgerald of rural Marshall; two sons, Kelly Wayne Owens and Ricky Loren Owens, both of Marshall; six grandchildren, Paul Ray Malter and wife, Jeanna, Jeremy Boedeker and wife, Abrea, April Rolf, Jennifer Guier and husband, Clint, Austin Rolf and Cale Boedeker; three great-grandchildren, Linzi Boedeker, Garrett Boedeker and Gracie Guier; four sisters, Georgia Hammerbacher of Shawnee, Kan., Dorothy Davis of Kansas City, Phyllis Fitch of Blue Springs and Charlotte Glasscock of Waverly, Tenn.; two brothers, Tuffy Rucker of Stockton and Butch Watkins of Hollis, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jillian Boedeker, and one brother, Gene Watkins.
