Boonville-Farmers Livestock Auction: Cattle Auction Report for 06/08/2010

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Receipts: 1060 Week Ago: 774 Year Ago: 517

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to 3.00 higher.
Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 higher. The highlight of this week’s feeder
offering was two loads of 7-weight crossbred heifers; otherwise, buyers had to
sort through small pkgs and lots to fill their orders. Many of the calves on
offer came to town short-weaned, some unweaned actually, but discounts were not
extreme. A large crowd was on hand for most of the day after strong storms moved
through the area during the late morning hours. Supply moderate to heavy and
demand moderate. Cows and bulls accounted for 20 percent of the total offering.
The feeder supply consisted of 48 percent steers and bulls and 62 percent
heifers; 46 percent of all the feeders weighed over 600 lbs.
