Dorothy M. Graves, 77, of Savannah, formerly of Slater, died Monday, June 7, 2010, at the LaVerna Village Nursing Home in Savannah.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater with Rev. Robert Sisney officiating. Bethany Weiker, organist, will play "How Great Thou Art," "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Monroe Cemetery in Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Christopher Prewitt, Adam Prewitt, Jason Fair, Brian Prewitt, James Tonn and Michael Fair. Memorials are suggested to Monroe Cemetery.
Born Sept. 3, 1932, in Livingston County, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Mae Bradley Brown. She married Charles Prewitt, who preceded her in death. On May 7, 1973, in Ashland, she married Kenneth H. Graves, who preceded her in death Nov. 25, 1996. She was a member of Gilliam Baptist Church. She retired from the housekeeping department at University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Columbia. She had resided in Savannah the past two years, moving from Slater where she had resided since 1976.
She is survived by three sons, Jerry Prewitt of Savannah, Dan Prewitt of Collinsville, Ill., and Allen Dale Prewitt of Morocco, North Africa; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Carl Prewitt.
