Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Receipts: 774 Week Ago: 1187 Year Ago: 1261

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to weak.
Slaughter cows steady. With the exception of three plus loads of 7-weight
yearling steers, the feeder cattle were consigned in very small groups. A
relatively light crowd was on hand this week at Farmers Livestock as most local
farmers are in the field either finishing planting beans or cutting hay. Supply
light to moderate and demand moderate. Cows and bulls accounted for 20 percent
of the total offering. The feeder supply consisted of 85 percent steers and
bulls and 15 percent heifers; 73 percent of all the feeders weighed over 600
lbs.
