Azill Gibson, 85, of Marshall, formerly of Fayette, died Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Living Center in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Friemonth-Freese Funeral Chapel in Fayette with Rev. Robert Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Clark's Chapel Cemetery with Danny Gibson, Jeff Gibson, Mark Gibson, Nathan Gibson, Shane Asher, Harley Owen, Kevin Parker and Terry Carmack serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to Clark's Chapel Cemetery Fund or Alzheimer's Research, care of Friemonth-Freese Funeral Service, 174 Hwy 5 and 240 North, Fayette, MO 65248.
Born. Oct. 26, 1924, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of James Elleck and Bessie Pearl (Jones) Skaggs. On June 22, 1938, in Boonville, she married Fred Gibson, who preceded her in death May 4, 1988. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved working in her garden and cooking.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Messerly of Marshall and Hellen Parker of Fayette; two sons, Elleck Gibson of Slater and Billy Gibson of Boonville; 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, James T. Gibson; one daughter, Bessie E. Moore; one brother, Verdell Skaggs; and a sister, Lucile Ewens.
