Mary H. Brush, 92, of Slater, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Spring Vale Cemetery in Lafayette, Ind. A celebration of life service will be held locally at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Big Bend Retreat or Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas.
Born Feb. 24, 1918, in Slater, she was the daughter of Ludwig A. and Mary Alvina Heying Hagedorn. She graduated from Slater High School. On Feb. 9, 1941, in Slater, she married Milton J. Brush Jr., who preceded her in death Feb. 4, 1979. They owned and operated Brush & Giger Hardware in Slater for a number of years. They made their home in many towns over the years, the longest at 30 years in Tucson, Ariz.; she moved back to Marshall in 2002.
Survivors include seven nephews, Bob Sellmeyer and wife, Lois, of Slater, Don Hayob of Kansas City, Ken Hayob of Kansas City, Wayne Hayob of Kansas City, Mel Hayob of Bozeman, Mont., David Hagedorn and wife, Robin, of Merriam, Kan., and Dan Hagedorn and wife, Sharon, of Camdenton; and one niece, Linda Page of Slater.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta Sellmeyer and Dominga Hayob; two brothers, Monte Hagedorn and Frank Hagedorn; two nieces, Ruth Giger and Juanita Saladi; and one nephew, Charles Sellmeyer.
