"We are officially an A+ school," she said. "We got it!"
In other business, the board approved the purchase of two school buses from Blackwater School District. The two 65-passenger buses, a 2003 and a 2007, will cost $65,000 total.
"I think they'll do fine for us," Vesser said.
The board approved a renewal of the school insurance plan with Coventry Health Care. The plan has changed to a $2,000 deductible from a $1,500 one, but co-pays are down to $20 from $25.
The school will pay an additional $30 per employee per month, Vesser said.
Board members approved the low bid of $2,970 from Jake's HVAC in Waverly for electrical work on the preschool shed building and for a bus hook-up.
They also gave Vesser permission to seek information about refinancing the district's bonds.
"I'll bring options to you when they get them to me," she said.
The board also approved extra-duty stipends for the 2009-2010 school year for sponsors of the academic team, National Honor Society, FFA, student council, the seventh- through 11th-grade classes and Activities Director Roger Feagan.
Board members Scott Moore, Doreena Forqueran, Jackie Plattner and President Art Madden were present at the meeting. They adjourned into executive session following the regular meeting.
The board's next regularly scheduled meeting is Wednesday, June 9, at 7 p.m. in the school library.

Hey Eric:
Did that former employee pay back the money she stole from Malta Bend School. I think it was $58,000. It would make a good followup article.
