Dora Deane (Umstead) Dowling, 100, of Eldon, died Friday, April 16, 2010, at Lakeside Meadows, formerly Lake Ozark Retirement Center, in Osage Beach.
At her request, no memorial service will be held. Her ashes will be interred beside her husband, Bernard A. "Ted" Dowling, in the cemetery at Mist, Ore. Memorial contributions may be made to donor's favorite charity.
Born May 26, 1909, in Tuscumbia, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Umstead and Eva Bear Umstead. She was a retired school teacher, having taught at Hardeman School until 1936, and then teaching in Oregon until retiring. She moved back to Missouri in 1999.
She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husand, Charles Leimkuehler, and her second husband, Bernard A. "Ted" Dowling; three brothers, William H. Umstead, Karl W. Umstead and Fred H. Umstead; and two sisters, Nellie Hazel Humphrey and Grace A. Ferguson.
