Shirley Ann Aversman, 79, of Blackburn died Friday, April 23, 2010, at her home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Concordia, with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Corder. Born Feb. 23, 1931, in Kansas City, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Trussell and Irene Shepherd Trussell. On Nov. 2, 1974, she married Leland E. Aversman, who survives of the home. She retired from ConAgra Foods in Marshall in 1998, where she had worked for several years. She had lived in Blackburn since 1991, and prior to that had lived in Higginsville, Independence and Del City, Okla.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Robert V. Nichols of Del City, Okla., William E. Nichols of Kansas City and Calvin E. "Butch" Barber of Blackburn; two daughters, Willie Irene Wade of Blackburn and Tonya R. O'Brien of Blue Springs; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Steven Eugene Aversman; one brother, Harold Trussell; and one sister, Dorothy Minor.
