Boonville-Farmers Livestock Auction: Cattle Auction Report for 04/20/2010

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Receipts: 1033 Week Ago: 1656 Year Ago: 1325

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers under 700 lbs steady to 2.00
higher, over 700 lbs 1.00 to 3.00 lower. Slaughter cows steady. Mostly small
pkgs, singles and odds available this week for buyers to sort through, and
overall quality was below par. Planting season is well under way in the local
area and as a result a light crowd was on hand. Cash prices still holding up
pretty well, but most weights and classes of cattle were unable to reach the
very top prices realized a week ago. Supply moderate and demand moderate to
good. Cows and bulls accounted for 14 percent of the total offering. The feeder
supply consisted of 41 percent steers and bulls and 59 percent heifers; 47
percent of all the feeders weighed over 600 lbs.

***Cattlemen’s Note: Farmers Livestock will hold a Special Stock Cow Sale on
Saturday, April 24th, expecting 600 head of bred cows, heifers and breeding
