Virginia Duvall, 91, of Marshall, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, with Rev. Vernon Maxted officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Old Lamine Cemetery in Cooper County. Memorials may be made to Community Food Pantry. Born Sept. 7, 1918, in Malta Bend, she was the daughter of the late Phillip Nickerson and Jesse Viola Jackson Nickerson. On March 7, 1941, in Boonville, she married Ed Duvall, who preceded her in death Dec. 1, 1996. She had lived in Saline County most of her life and was a cake baker extraordinare and retired from ConAgra Foods. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Union Extension Club and Frilly Frosters Club and was a 4-H leader for many years.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Lawrence and husband, Russell, of rural Lawson; two sons, Ronald Duvall and wife, Phyllis, of Marshall and Edward Duvall of rural Warsaw; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Houston "Phil" Nickerson of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Grace Nickerson; two sisters, Emma Sublette and Dorothy Howard Meinershagen; and three brothers, Leroy, Marvin and Virgil Nickerson.
