County sales tax revenues fall short

Wednesday, April 7, 2010
At their meeting Wednesday morning, April 7, Saline County Commissioners reported on sales tax collections.

The April total is $77,833.81, down from $84,276.00 in March and $82,325.04 in April 2009. For the year, collections are now down $1,410.76.

But, "We're still early in the year," Presiding Commissioner Becky Plattner said.

Commenting on the renewal of the $0.25 tax levy for gravel on county roads, which was approved by voters on Tuesday, April 6, Southern District Commissioner Richard "Dick" Hassler said, "Thank you to the people of the common road district."

Northern District Commissioner Norvelle "Brownie" Brown was also present.

Commissioners will meet again Thursday, April 8, at 9 a.m. in the lower level of the courthouse.
