Jesse J. "Jim" Hawkins Jr., 79, of Marshall died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Mar-Saline Manor in Marshall.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Memorials may be made to Saline County Historical Society. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com.
Born March 15, 1930, in Waverly, he was the son of the late Jesse Elmer Hawkins and Janie Irene Knox Hawkins. On Jan. 9, 1954, he married Margaret Ilene "Peggy" Wilson, who preceded him in death Jan. 3, 2006. He had lived in the Marshall area most of his life and was a retired farmer. He worked for Army Corps of Engineers, working on the Truman Dam for 10 years, and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 101 in Kansas City.
Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Slater and husband, David, of Huntington Beach, Calif.; one son, Tim Hawkins of Laguna Beach, Calif.; one grandson, Cameron David Slater; one sister, Linda Conner of rural Marshall; one brother, John Hawkins of Slater; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ed Hawkins, and two sisters, Judy Hawkins and Sally Allen.
