Howard Shook, 93, of Slater, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater, with Chris Harper officiating. Inurnment will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Big Bend Retreat.
Born Nov. 9, 1916, in Marshfield, he was the son of the late William P. and Lydia Hughes Shook. On Oct. 9, 1939, in Kansas City, he married Arnette L. Montgomery, who survives of the home. He was a member of Church of Christ in Marshall. He was a U.S. Army-Air Corps veteran and a member of American Legion Post 78 in Slater. He was a member of Cambridge Masonic Lodge 63 in Slater and had served as a councilman for the city of Slater. He retired from ICG Railroad after nearly 30 years of service as an engineer.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Sherry Perkins of Slater and Kathy Coleman of Liberty; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven sisters and three brothers.
