Elva Beerman, 83, of Concordia, died Friday, March 19, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Concordia, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. The family suggests memorial donations to St. Paul's Foundation for the Future. Born Feb. 25, 1927, in rural Concordia, she was the daughter of the late Henry L. Becker and Hulda Nierman Becker. She had lived in the Concordia area her entire life, where she was a 1945 graduate of Concordia High School. On March 16, 1947, she married Herb Beerman, who survives of the home. She dedicated her life to helping Herb on the farm and raising their children. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lutheran Braille Workers, the quilters guild, Lutheran Good Shepherd Home Auxiliary and a Red Cross volunteer at the Lutheran Good Shepherd Home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, John Beerman and wife, Jan, of Concordia, Cheryl Petersen and husband, Mark, of Concordia, Jim Beerman and wife, Rhonda, of Marshall, and Steve Beerman and wife, Angie, of Concordia; 11 grandchildren, Amy Gerdts, Richard Beerman, Emily Beerman, Brian Beerman, Erin Tieman, Erik Petersen, Jason Beerman, Julie Battista, Jared Beerman, Trey Beerman and Breawna Woods; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Norbert Becker and Homer Becker, both of Concordia, and Raymond Becker of Independence; one sister, Verna Lohman of Blue Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Nathan Beerman, and a sister in infancy, Florence Becker.
