James Milton Dowell, 62, of Sedalia, formerly of Marshall, died Sunday, March 14, 2010.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia, with Royal Peterson officiating. Pallbearers will be Kevin Rogers, Mike Beacher, Mike Terrance, Chuck Petty, Doug Phillips, John Bishop, Danny Warden and Tom Smith. Burial will be at Fitzgerald Cemetery near Bynumville, with full military honors. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Diabetes Association, in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel.
Born April 28, 1947, in Belvidere, Ill., he was the son of James W. and Wilma Young Dowell. On June 12, 1971, in Brookfield, he married Margaret Louise Ellison, who survives of the home. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970. He was a manager for Hardee's for 36 years until his retirement.
Also surviving are his mother, Wilma Dowell of Ozark, Ark.; one son, Jimmy Dowell of Boonville; one daughter, Jamie Dowell of Sedalia; one sister, Judy Howard of Ozark, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Dowell.
