Vera Maurine Dickson Herider, 104, of Iconium, originally of Marshall, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2010, in the Iconium Cemetery under the direction of Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home in Osceola.
Born April 6, 1905, in Saline County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Neff Dickson and Maggie Belle Figgins Dickson. On Sept. 24, 1927, in Marshall, she married Melvin Conrad Herider, who preceded her in death on March 18, 1971. She attended Hardeman Elementary School. She worked at International Shoe Factory in Marshall from 1926 to 1935. She and her husband owned and operated H&S Motor Company from 1940 through 1953; they also owned and operated Herider Construction Co. in Marshall and Warrensburg. She was a member of Concord Christian Church near Arrow Rock.
She is survived by one daughter, Lora Belle Herider Suiter; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several step-great-great-grandchildren; two nieces; and three great-nieces.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Arthur Dickson and James Randall Dickson; and one sister, Lora Hook of Marshall.
