Warren Elmer Burton, 86, died at his home Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010.

Born on Nov. 8, 1923, in Macon, he was the son of the late Elmer and Bertha Burton. On Dec. 5, 1943, he married Ruby Alma Hicks, who preceded him in death in 2003. He was in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring as a first sergeant in the military police. He then worked as a correctional counselor at the U.S. Federal Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., retiring in 1984 after 20 years with the Bureau of Prisons. He also operated Kickapoo CB Shop and Kickapoo Kollectables, in Leavenworth, Kan., with his wife and son.
He is survived by one son, Charles Warren Burton; two daughters, Charlene "Lene" Ruby Brown and Claretta "Letta" Virginia Schneider; one sister, Martha Garvin; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Rodney, and two sisters, Wanda and Bertha (Jenelle).
